Fourth Grade
4th Grade PTO Performance: Thursday, December 12, 2013, 6:30 PM
2/11/14 update: 4th grade students have started recorders! After much preparation, we are beginning our Recorder Karate recorder curriculum. This is one of Mrs. Kehl's favorite times of year for 4th grade students! For most students this is the first time learning to play a wind instrument, which involves understanding music notation (how to read notes, time signatures, dynamics, etc.) and translating that knowledge to the physical act of blowing into the recorder and performing the correct fingering combinations in order to play songs. This past week we learned our very first notes on the recorder, B, A, and G, and are starting to learn our first song to earn our karate white belts!
PARENTS: Every 4th grade student must have a recorder for the second semester. Recorder order forms went home with students, however if you need another one, please download the form and turn it in to Mrs. Kehl ASAP. You can download the form by clicking the button below. Recorders are $4.75. Recorder Karate method books can also be purchased for $2.75. Students who are not able to purchase a recorder or do not wish to do so may use a school recorder (a "loaner recorder"): parents please select this option by checking the appropriate box on the order form.

12/13/14 update: Last night 4th grade students performed their amazing program, Go West, for parents, families and friends. The program celebrated the highlights of the California Gold Rush and Westward Expansion of the 19th century. To read more about our program, download our PROGRAM NOTES by clicking the button below. It was an unforgettable performance, one of the best that CTE has ever seen!! Way to go, 4th grade students!! We will upload a video clip as soon as possible!
