About Music at CTE
Welcome to Music at Catawba Trail Elementary School! At Catawba Trail we believe that education in the arts is an integral part of every child's school experience. Students at Catawba Trail have the opportunity to experience the arts in regular fine arts classes (art and music) and annual grade-level performances, as well as participate in clubs and special events such as Choir, Art Club, Stage Crew, and the annual Talent Show. In addition, we are excited that the 2013-2014 school year will offer even more club and performance opportunities in the arts than ever before (stay tuned!).
Music at Catawba Trail is taught by Sarah Kehl, who has taught music for 7 going on 8 years, the past two at CTE. Mrs. Kehl believes that a music education gives students a deeper understanding and appreciation of culture, humanity, and art. More importantly, music education and the other fine arts (drama, art, and dance) develop aesthetic sensibility - something that no other subjects can offer. Mrs. Kehl's passion in life is music, and her quest as an educator is to help every student at CTE learn to LOVE music of all kinds! Music at CTE involves learning to play instruments, singing, creating music, listening, learning music theory, moving to music, experiencing music of other cultures, and performing. Our classes are fun, engaging, and sometimes a little chaotic! Explore the Grade-Level Pages for information on what each grade is learning in music this year. And take a look at our blog for the latest happenings in the CTE music room!
